A Bsc course with Bio-tech,Bio-info and chemistry is started in the year 2000.

Biotechnology

The practical work is spread over three labs in our college (Bio-Chemistry, Genetics & Microbiology). The other subjects offered along with our subjects are Chemistry and Bio-informatics. The additional subjects in first and second year are Communicate skills in English and Entrepreneurship development respectively. The course has well qualified faculty members comprising of the following:

  • Mrs.K.Pranitha, M.Sc(Chemistry)
  • M.Sc(Biotechnology)
  • Elizabeth,M.Sc(Biotechnology)
  • Ms.Radhika,M.Sc(Biotechnology)

Bio-informatics

Bio-informatics is the application of computer technology to the management of biological information.Computers are used to gather share, analyze and integrate biological and genetic information which can then be applied to gene based drug discovery and development.
Further scopes of Bioinformatics are: Protonics (study of proteins) Genomics(Study genomes of different organisms)pharma-Biotech(development of drugs)Agri-Biotech(Agricultural research)and pharmacogenomics(individualized medicine tailored to genetic profiles).Bioinformatics has a significant growth potential and is expected to grow into a market worth $4.2 billion by 2006 in India and $10 bilion by 2006 globally.
