Commerce subject was first introduced in 1969 at the Intermediate level when the AP Government started the +2 for the first time with commerce, Economics, Civics & Maths, Economics, Commerce combinations. Subsequently B.Com was introduced in 1971 to accomodate the first batch of Intermediate students. The course started with one fulltime member and has now 13 full time members with 1 Ph.D and 2 M.Phils and one more member is in the process of submitting her Ph.D thesis.

  1. B.Com (regular) EM & TM
  2. B.Com (professional) EM Only(Includes on the Job Training and Project work)
  3. B.Com (Computers) EM Only (Includes seminar presentation by individual student)

To keep pace with the changing needs of the society and requirements of the students needs, the course structure and syllabii, have been upgraded suitably.

    1. two members attended state level seminar on “Quality Education in Commerce “ at Bhavan’s college – Secunderabad.
    2. Two members were selected by Mana TV channel to deliver lectures in commerce for Intermediate course.
    3. Field Trip :
    4. Shri Ramananda Institute of Rural Development near Pochampally.
    5. Conducted socio-Economic survey of Handloom weaver’s at Pochampally
    6. Extension Lectures :
    7. Lecture on “scope of total income” with special reference to salary by D.V.Aditya in December 2004.
    8. Working and performance of NABARD by Shri Satya Sai,AGM NABARD in January 2004.
    9. 2005-2006 : The Department in association with Indian Accounting Association – Hyderabad Chapter organized a Lecture in September 2005 on strategic cost management by Mr.N.Srinivasan,M.Com ICWAI,Director ,Propart solutions.

The meeting was presided by Mr.Ch.A.V.S.N.Murthy Charler, Accountant ,Vice President Indian Accounting Association – Hyderabad Chapter.
The above seminar was organized to motivate the department staff to write articles for the forthcoming XXVIII All India Accounting Conference to be held in December 2005.
The Seminar was largely attended and benefited the faculty from Osmania University affiliated colleges, members of All India Accounting association and students.

Student activities

  1. Reena chowdary has won a prize in a “Bizzique” 2002 contest organized by centre for advanced business studies among participants comprising of Degree and MBA students – 2002.
  2. Indira Priyadarshini participated in the Dance programme in ETV channel -2002.
  3. Naga Deepthi participated musical contest organized by Navya Natakasamithi and was selected as a playback singer for an upcoming film – 2003.
