COLLEGE PROFILE

he college was established in the year 1954 by Hyderabad Mahila Vidya Sangham. The foundation stone of the college was laid by Sri.Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, and the college building was inaugurated by Dr.S.Radha Krishnan the Vice President of India on 6th January 1955. The main aim of starting the college was to encourage girls from the educationally backward Telangana district to pursue higher studies. Towards this end a hostel building was constructed in the college premises and it was inaugurated by Smt.Indira Gandhi. The college has the unique honour of having His Excellency, The President of India, Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam as the chief guest to deliver the Valedictory Address for the Golden Jubilee celebrations in August 2005.

The college was granted autonomous status in 1989 by the UGC. Autonomy enabled the college to restructure the existing syllabi and to introduce several need-based courses related to upcoming subjects like Biotechnology, Computer Science, Microbiology and Medical Lab Technology. Presently the college offers 32 programmes of which 7 are at Intermediate level 21 at UG and 4 at PG level. Several Certificate Courses have been introduced to meet the emerging needs of society.

The college has been Accredited with Grade ‘A’ by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in January 2006.
