Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses (AECC)

The curriculum of each UG Program consists of three components:

Part I: Languages

Part II: Optional subjects (DSC & DSE), Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC) and Generic Electives (GE)

Part III: AECC - Environmental Science (ES), Gender Sensitization, NSS / NCC / Sports / Certified Voluntary Work

AECC (Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course)

Semester I: Environmental Studies

Semester II: Gender Sensitization

AECC (Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course) has a weightage of two credits. It is mandatory for all students to have minimum 75 % attendance for both internal and External and should complete in the same Semester. In case a student is unable to complete the courses due to a valid reason, she has to complete it in the next Semester. The Credits earned in AECC courses, however will not added in the calculation of SGPA / CGPA.

Note:

a) BBM program has only English in Part I, and more optional papers in Part II compared to B.A /B Sc /B Com.

b) NSS includes Blood donation camp, Tree plantation, Awareness Campaign Adoption of Villages/Slums, Special Camps and any other Service recognized by the college from time to time.

c) Certified voluntary work includes supervision and cleanliness of College Campus, Classrooms, Rest Rooms, Library Maintenance/ Adult literacy in improvised classrooms/Eradication of child labor and enrolling them in schools/Service at old age homes/Service at hospitals and any other service recognized by the College from time to time.

Learning Objectives

  • To develop students’ sensibility with regard to issues of gender in contemporary times
  • To provide a critical perspective on the socialization of men and women
  • To introduce students to information about some key biological aspects of genders
  • To expose students to debates on the gender politics in work space
  • To help students reflect critically on gender violence
  • To expose students to more egalitarian interactions between men and women

Learning Outcomes

  • Students will develop better understanding of important issues related to gender in contemporary India
  • Students will be sensitized to the basic dimensions of the biological, sociological, psychological and legal aspects of gender. This will be achieved through discussion of materials derived from research, facts, everyday life, literature and film
  • Students will be able to respond to ideas and issues of gender violence
  • Students will be sensitive to practical difficulties of men and women working as professionals and equals
