Museum

Museum established as a part of curriculum of zoology course in the year 1954 supported by our Institution to enable smooth functioning. The Departmental museum is homed to huge variety of Animal collection and maintains around 2,000 specimens with unique collection..Our museum established based on the practical principle of collection should be put to students use and freely accessible.

In the museum we preserve Zoological specimens of Invertebrates and Vertebrates.

Specimens- A zoological specimen is an animal or part of an animal preserved for scientific use. Various uses are: to verify the identity of a (species), to allow study, increase public knowledge of zoology. Zoological specimens are extremely diverse with Invertebrates and Vertebrates, mounted specimens, skeletal material, casts, pinned insects, dried material, animals preserved in spirit and microscope slides.

The rare specimens like Protopterus and birds eggs donated by famous Ornithologist Salim Ali are present in our Museum

All the models including fine leathered, wooden and clay models are uniquely  arranged

Animal models-  helps to increase our knowledge of the biodiversity in terms of Wild                     Life Protection  and improve the Practical approach to Identify the  Endangered , Rare ,        Endemic, Vulnerable animal species towards education and research.

The museum aims to hold for the benefit and education of animal sciences and to ensure that the collection  is housed in safety, conserved, curated, researched and exhibited.
