A Brief Profile of the Dept. of Political Science.

Courses

The Dept. caters to students opting E.P.P &ML.H.P; groups at the undergraduate level.

The Dept. was established since the inception of the college in 1954. A background of inter-related disciplines History, Civics & Economics at the intermediate level, enables students to opt political science at the undergraduate level.

When English was the medium of instruction there was only one section which offered Political Science as optional for degree course Prof.Rama Melkote, Mrs.kusuma & Mrs.Kamlesh Nair were the faculty members during the initial phase. The strength of the section was more than 60.

But with Telugu as medium of instruction at the U.G level Political Science is offered to two sections Telugu and English medium.

Dr.Prabavathi, Ms.Vasundhara & Mrs.Srilatha are other members of the faculty of Dept. of Political Science. A constant interaction with faculty and students of Departments of Political Science with other undergraduate colleges is maintained by participation in academic activities for a better exposure.

During late 1980’s in keeping with a major trend in the study of Political Science, International Relations is offered as optional paper for the students of final year. Extension lectures by subject expert are organized by the Dept. as a part of academic acitivites.
