UNIT - I
Introduction to Quantitative Applications in Operations management - Role of operations management system. Interfaces between the operations systems and systems of other functional areas. TQM, ISO Certification.
UNIT - II
Production Planning & Control (PPP), Basic functions of PPC - Its variants in different systems of manufacture.
UNIT - III
Quality control - Standards and specifications. SQC (statistical quality control) charts for average, range, fraction defective and number of defects, Acceptance Sampling Plans.
Inventory Control - Types of Inventory costs - EOQ. Systems of inventory control - ABC, VED & FNSD analysis. Use of simulation in inventory control.
UNIT - IV
Linear Programming; Mathematical model formulation, Graphical solution, Simplex method, Duality, Dual Simplex.
Transportation Problem: Mathematical model, Methods of obtaining, IBFS Optimality test using MODI - unbalanced TP, Multiple optimal solutions Maximization cases.
Assignment problem: Mathematical Model. Optimal solution using Floo’s technique, Unbalanced and Maximization cases.
UNIT - V
PERT & CPM: Networking principles, Time estimates, critical path and probability concepts in PERT & CPM - crashing. Time cost trade off -optimum duration with direct and indirect costs.
