1.2 Tabulation diagrammatic representation.
Bar, pie, graphi.cal representation – histograms, frequency curve, ogives.

1.3 Measures of central values and dispersion mean, median, mode, geometric mean,
Harmonic mean, mean deviation, quartile deviation, variance, standard deviation,
co-efficient variation.




UNIT 2


2.1 Concept of probability addition and multiplication laws of probability.
Bayes theorem(Biological applications).

2.2 Concept of random variable, expectation

2.3 Probability distribution Binomial, Poisson and Normal distributions their
application to biotechnology problems.




UNIT 3



1.1 Concept of Sampling, sampling distribution, standard error.

1.2 Concept of testing hypothesis, Null and alternate hypothesis.

1.3 Types of errors, levels of significance, acceptance and rejection region.

1.4 Large sample tests for mean and proportions, Small sample tests- t-test, x2 – test
and F-test. It applications

4.1 Karl Pearson coefficient of Correlation, Rank Correlation Regression, lines of
Regression

4.2 Concept of analysis of variance one-way and two-way classification.
