Chemistry Department has been established in the year 1954 and over the years various combinations – Conventional and modern, including Biotech, Medical Lab Technology were introduced with Chemistry being the common factor.

FACULTY :

The department has richly experienced faculty Dr.(Mrs).M.Surekha Reddy heads the Department ably supported by 11 other lecturers. Learning is a continuous process here and Teaching Staff updates its knowledge by attending refresher courses, Seminars, Workshops etc. All the staff members are adapt at teaching in English and the vernacular language TELUGU.

STUDENT PROFILE & PROGRAMME OF STUDY

Highest intake of students in Chemistry. Around 900 students learning Chemistry. Multiple combinations offered with Chemistry as main subject. B.Sc-MPC, BZC, MBC, MZC, Bio-Tech, MLT(Medical Lab Technology), Intermediate – MPC, Bi.PC. The course content for Chemistry for undergraduate courses is that prescribed by U.G.C.

LABORATORY FACILITIES :

Instrumentation Lab :

To translate theory into practice, the Department is equipped with an excellent instrumentation lab. Digital Calorimeters, Digital pH, Digital Conductivity meters, Column Chromatography and Thin Layer Chromatography Kits are available for application and research oriented experiments.

Experimentation Labs :

Five well – equipped and well – ventilated labs and two sensitive balance rooms take care of the experimentation requirements of the Science students. All the labs havefull complement of apparatus and glassware built over five decades of the Department’s glorious existence in the cause of education.

TEACHING METHODOLOGY :

Audio Visual equipments are used in classroom teaching besides the conventional method. Additional information about the subject is delivered to the student by arranging extension lectures by eminent Professors and by arranging seminars, updated versions of Latest Books in Chemistry are available models are provided for easy and clear understanding of the subject students are evaluated continuously besides assignments and seminars.
