B.Com(Professional) Course Ist Year

The B.Com Vocational Course (Advertising sales promotion, sales management), restructured as B.Com Professional (Course) was sponsored by UGC in this college, in the academic year 1994-95
The course comprises of the following courses:


1 Advertising-I
2 Marketing Communications
3 Accounting-I
4 Industrial organization and management
5 Business Economics
6 Business English


SALIENT FEATURES:-

On the job Training:-The students have to undergo summer training for a period of 4 weeks at the end of first and second year respectively. To gain practical exposure. The first year students are placed with Advertising agencies such as, FCB, ulka, Breeze Advertising, centum, sobhaya, encode etc.
The second year students are placed with organizations such as times of India, RPG, Pennar, and Paterson securities, ORG-May etc
On completion of the training, students have to submit O-J-T Reports at the end of each year, which are valued for 50 marks each (35 marks for O-J-T Report + 15 marks for viva)

Project Work: During the final year, students are assigned independent project works. The project topics are designed to canclate the subjects with the latest trends. The students have to submit a project report, which is valued by an external examiner for 100 marks (70 marks for project report+30 marks for presentation).



GUEST LECTURES:-
Guest lectures are also conducted on a regular basis. The guest lectures are given by practitioners from their relevant fields and benefit the students with their immense practical knowledge and exposure.


STUDENT ASSESSMENT:-
Students are assessed through their annual and semester examinations, internal assessments and pre-finals. Their performance is also monitored through case studies, presentations, group discussions etc.


PLACEMENT CELL:
Placement cell has been set up to assist the students to provide job opportunities.


PAST RECORD:
Students of the last two batches have journal organizations such as GE Capital,Tata Teleservices, Ramada Manohar,Crux Management Services,JanmabhoomiHolidayResorts,Amrutha Castle Group etc. The other students have joined MBA Course in various colleges.

The course therefore offers a platform to combine theoretical knowledge and practical exposure, leading to a result oriented specialization. Through O-J-T and project work the course also offers scope for personality development. Which is a crucial input in today’s globalized world.
Through the right mix of subjects the course also provides a sound base for future educational pursuits especially, management courses.
